Recycling isn't just good for the environment—it's the law in Minnesota.
State law requires residents and businesses to recycle eligible materials instead of placing them in the trash. Recycling helps conserve natural resources, reduces waste sent to landfills, and keeps disposal costs down for everyone.
What Can Be Recycled?
Accepted recyclable materials typically include:
- Paper and cardboard
- Glass bottles and jars
- Aluminum and steel cans
- Plastic bottles, jugs, and containers
Please make sure your recyclables are empty, clean, and dry before placing them in your recycling cart. Plastic bags, food waste, hoses, cords, and other non-recyclable items can contaminate an entire load of recycling.
Help Keep Recycling Working
When in doubt, leave it out! Putting the wrong items in your recycling cart can create safety hazards, damage equipment, and increase processing costs.
