Yard Waste Hauling Services
At your request, we collect yard waste. Yard waste must be placed at the curb or alley on your regular trash service day. Please have your yard waste ready for pickup by 6 a.m., or at your city’s ordinance start time for yard waste services.Incidental Yard Waste Plan
Please all Highland Sanitation & Recycling by 4:00pm the day before your regular service day (by 4:00pm Friday if your pickup day is Monday) to schedule pickup of your bagged or bundled yard waste along with your regular trash collection. Yard waste will not be picked up without prior authorization. A service charge will be billed for each bag or bundle picked up. The incidental yard waste plan is the most cost effective option if you will have less than 30 yard waste bags in a single season.Seasonal Yard Waste Plan
We provide a 64 gallon cart to be picked up weekly, with up to 5 additional bags at no extra charge during the yard waste season. You may sign up for the seasonal yard waste plan at any time during the yard waste season. The yard waste plan is billed all year round as a flat monthly fee, as opposed to an annual charge. Yard Waste Season
Yard waste season normally runs from April to November, weather permitting. Specific dates change each year.

What’s considered yard waste?
These items are acceptable with yard waste collection
- Bagged leaves
- Bagged grass clippings
- Bagged garden waste (Limit 40 lbs. per bag)
- Bagged mulch
- Brush and twigs (limbs no more than 3 in. in diameter and no more than 3 ft. long tied in bundles no more than 2 ft. in diameter.)
These items are not acceptable with yard waste collection. If you have these items in your yard waste bags or cart, there may be an extra charge, or the driver may leave the cart behind if the contamination is too significant.
- Dirt, sod, hay, straw
- Apples, pumpkins
- Tree stumps and Large branches
- Animal feces or diapers
- Dead animals
- Rocks, concrete, asphalt
- Household trash
